There are four churchwide Special Offerings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) which are a collective witness to Jesus Christ's love for the whole church. These play an important role in defining what it means to be a connectional church. Over the years these offerings have provided ways for individuals and congregations to join together with each other and in partnership with other Christians in responding to a variety of concerns. Currently, St. John’s participates in 3 of the 4 Special Offerings (see Note 1). While most of the Special Offerings have World Outreach Activities, two (Pentecost & Peace and Global Witness) have a Local Mission component able to be used in Reno/Sparks.
(1) St. John’s does not at this time participate in the Special Offering for Peace and Global Witness. The Mission Committee is studying the possibility of adding this Special Offering.
